Arun District Council has announced that the Windmill Entertainment Centre will remain closed until March 2024.
We attended a recent meeting of Windmill user groups with Freedom Leisure and Arun District Council, and were disappointed that ADC would not consider bringing this date forward. We suggested the option of a partial reopening in the meantime but this was rejected by ADC.
The Windmill Cinema will therefore not be able to screen at the centre for the time being. The projection equipment has been temporarily removed for its security whilst the building is unused. The photo shows the projector being tested in the functional auditorium just before volunteers helped with the removal at the end of October.
However, the good news is that the Cinema WILL reopen at some point.
During the closure we will continue to search for an alternative venue to satisfy public demand and discussions are ongoing.
The major new film ‘Wicked Little Letters’, starring Olivia Colman and set in Littlehampton will be released on 23rd February 2024 and we will endeavour to screen this in the Littlehampton area as soon as we can.
